“The Bible Recap” by Tara-Leigh Cobble

If you were asked to wrap up a book that would bring joy to someone over and over again and change their lives, what book would you give?

I’ve asked myself this question…and my answer the past few years has repeatedly been “The Bible Recap” by Tara-Leigh Cobble.

A friend told me about “The Bible Recap” a few years ago.  She asked me if I had ever felt like giving up on wanting to read, understand and love the entire Bible.

The honest answer to all of that was yes, yes, and yes.  I had tried several times to read the Bible from start to finish…but I always ended up getting “lost” in the Old Testament and going back to my favorite and familiar parts of the Bible, the Psalms, the Proverbs, and parts of the New Testament.  To be honest, I had read parts of my Bible many times in the past and then thought, “What did I just read?”  It was challenging to continue to read the unfamiliar parts of the Bible that were a bit confusing to me.  Have you ever experienced that?  Have you ever felt like giving up on wanting to read, understand and love the entire Bible?

If your answer to those questions is “yes,” or if you are looking for a book that brings joy to someone (or yourself) over and over again, may I suggest that you give “The Bible Recap” a try?

“You can read the whole Bible in a year in about 12 minutes a day…it’s 1% of your day that’s going to change the whole other 99%.”

Tara-Leigh Cobble

In “The Bible Recap,” Tara-Leigh Cobble takes us through the Bible chronologically and points to the character of God in each day’s reading of the Bible.

Reading my Bible with “The Bible Recap” has become a daily habit and a daily delight.  I look forward to what I’ll read and learn each day.  I’m seeing things about God that I’ve never seen and it is life-giving and life-changing!  God’s Word changes our hearts, our perspective, and our interactions and I’m thankful for how God has used “The Bible Recap” to point me to Christ.  Tara-Leigh writes, “It’s mountain tops somedays and pits & prisons other days.  But on every kind of day, He is where the joy is!”

You may wonder why I’m suggesting a “Bible-in-a-year” guide at this time of the year, rather than at the beginning of the year.

The truth is, the right time to start reading the Bible is…now.  As Tara-Leigh Cobble says, “Every day that you’re in the Word, you’re right on time!”

I hope you’ll take 1% of your day (or more) and read, study and hide God’s Word in your heart…God’s Word is alive and active and it will transform the other 99% of your day!

If you’re struggling to want to read, understand or love the Bible, I hope you’ll consider reading your Bible along with “The Bible Recap” and be encouraged with the daily reminder that Christ is where our joy is!
